Vic-Tas District Strategy Day
District Strategy Day was held on Saturday 29th April. As the Chair of District Church Council (DCC) David Bergmann noted, ‘we are now in the third year of our current four-year strategy, and it is time to review if we are on track and is the strategy still fit for purpose?’
In total 26 people participated, including one via Zoom. Joining DCC were leaders from: Lutheran Education Vic, NSW & Tas; Council for Ministry Support (CMS); Youth and Young Adult Ministry (YYAM); People & Strategy SubCommittee (P&S SC); Finance Audit & Risk Subcommittee (FA&R SC); as well as staff from the Office of the Bishop (OOB). A broad group of participants, with more acronyms that you can poke a stick at!
The short story is that the strategy is still valid, and that there will already be an update due in 2024.
Interestingly, it was agreed that the governance functions of Council for Ministry Support should be moved to the incorporated body – Lutheran Church of Australia Victorian District (LCAVD). This proposal will free up the Council for Ministry support to focus on Mission and Ministry – a good outcome. This proposal will involve some administrative changes to our LCAVD Constitution, with the Victorian Constitutions Committee to bring the proposed changes to the next Victorian Convention of Synod, to be held during Term 2 holidays in 2024, at Good News Lutheran College, Tarneit. Note, it is being held early due to the National Convention of Synod to be held during the Term 3 school holidays in 2024, at Concordia College, Adelaide.
