Choose Life – a message from Bishop Lester
Each year Melbourne radio station Light FM requests a message on a particular theme from Christian leaders in the lead up to Easter. Please find Bishop Lester’s message below
Choose Life! (Deuteronomy 30:15-20)
What would your ideal life look like?
A life filled with happiness and hope?
People search for life in one of two places.
Some look to things and experiences in this world.
But the physical world can never guarantee the life we want.
We see how easily hopes and dreams are torn by war, lost in floods, filled with hardship, cut short by death.
A better place to search for life is in God –
who made us for a purposeful, hope-filled life with Him.
He sent his Son to live in our broken world, to share our pain,
and conquer those things that destroy life.
He even chose death on a cross, so we can have life.
From the empty tomb at Easter Jesus comes to us with life in his hands.
He offers freely what we cannot find on our own.
Jesus said, “I have come that you may have life; life in all its fulness.”
So “choose life” by accepting the life he offers.
